Oval Cut Diamond

Cut in a similar fashion to the round cut diamond, the oval cut diamond is, as its name implies, long and slender in shape with the cut of its facets giving it an amazing brilliance, very similar to that of a round cut diamond. Oval cut diamonds are extremely popular as their elongated shape accentuates long, slender finger. This is a relatively new diamond cut, developed by Lazare Kaplan at the beginning of the 1960’s

Oval cut, GIA certified diamonds, just like their cousins, round cut diamond, have 56 facets. However, as there are no exact methods or measurements governing the cut and design of the diamond, your personal preferences should be the deciding factor when the time comes to decide on the final shape and setting for your certified loose diamond. Of particular importance when choosing your Oval cut, GIA certified diamond from Ronit-Diamonds is that you be aware that color and clarity are of much greater importance than in round cut diamond as inclusions and impurities and much easier to see with the naked eye.  Additionally, because oval cut diamonds reflect light passing through them in a particularly brilliant fashion, they are usually at their best when they have no color at all.

The ideal oval cut diamond should have a ratio of 1.5:1. If it is greater than this, in all probability you will see a particularly undesirable “bow tie” effect, so called because of the dark, bow tie shape that appears in the diamond due to inaccurately cut angles.
